Think you're ready to Adopt?

Rehoming:
Thoroughbreds can be successful show or pleasure mounts beyond the track. With proper training there are no limits to what these horses can do. Many have excelled in hunter/jumpers, dressage, eventing, competitive trail riding, foxhunting, 4H, barrel racing, carriage driving, pleasure riding, and as broodmares. These highly athletic and intelligent horses have a lot to offer individuals that take the time to teach them. After Race to the Finish Foundation (RFF) does their initial assessment of the horse and a training plan has been established, the usual initial training is approx. 2 months long. We then start to advertise the horse based on his personality and potential for future career. A potential adopter can check out our website or our Facebook page and see what type of horse we have available for rehoming.

Experienced, previous horse owners are preferred type of applicant for rehoming of the OTTB. But the novice rider can occasionally be paired with some of our more mellow OTTB’s. The OTTB’s personality will be evident in our ads.

When we look for a potential adopter for rehoming our OTTB, we want you to have a place to keep your horse, an established Veterinarian and personal references. We will be asking questions regarding stabling, experience, expectations, how you plan on caring for your new OTTB and whether or not you understand and agree to our adoption contract.

Rehoming is one of the most important aspects of our mission here at RFF. We want these horses to go to homes that will love, respect and care for them and homes that will keep these horse busy with their newfound careers as pleasure mounts.
